2017 Sportsmanship Award Winner, Phran Galante
Phran Galante, a leader of Music City Tennis Invitational, passed away September 23, 2019, after a hard-fought battle with lung cancer. She was fearless and fun, energetic and passionate, and gave back to others. Phran was a longstanding MCTI tournament tennis player, MCTI Sportsmanship Award recipient in 2003 and 2017, MCTI Committee Chair for 4 years, Co-Chair for 14 years, and spearheaded many MCTI Silent Auctions. Through her many years of service and volunteer efforts, Phran raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for MCTI. Phran's wish was to stop cancer, the disease which took the lives of her friends and took her own life. MCTI is forever grateful to Phran for her countless contributions to MCTI and the Nashville community.
The Sportsmanship Award is presented to the MCTI tournament player who exemplifies superior comradery, integrity and sportsmanship. The trophy bears the names of each year's winner, as nominated by their fellow competitors.
